(Lansing, Mich.) – When brothers Brig and Jon Sorber started their moving company in the 1980s they never imagined 20 years later, the company would complete its 2 millionth move.
But that’s exactly what the international company with 159 locations in North America did.
Based in Lansing, Mich., the franchise system was originally an after-school project for the brothers. When the pair left for college, their mother, Mary Ellen Sheets, quit her state government job and developed the company.
Sheets bought an old pick-up truck for $350 and hired two movers. Her success led her to franchise the company. The family credits their success to the company-wide commitment to customer service.
“We aren’t just a moving company,’’ Sheets, CEO of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, said. “We are a customer service company. We want to fit our customer’s needs and try to exceed their expectations every time we complete a service. We know moving can be a stressful time and we try to be a role model in this industry.’’
Franchises complete both home and business moves as well as packing and unpacking. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® completed its 1 millionth move in June 2002. The company projects its 3 millionth move will be completed in spring 2008.
It is the largest franchised moving company in North America with nearly 1,200 trucks on the road. Locations are independently owned and operated. For more information, go to www.twomen.com or contact Katie Rexrode, media relations and communications manager at katier@twomen.com
