International moving company brings hundreds to St. Louis for convention

(St. Louis, Mo.) TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchisees from across North America will move into St. Louis for a week networking, education and recognition of company accomplishments and enjoy the “Gateway to the South.”

More than 250 attendees from the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® system will arrive this weekend and stay through March 16. The event it being held at the Adams Mark Hotel downtown. This is the 14th meeting for the international franchised moving company.

“We are thrilled to have such an amazing turnout – 84 percent of our system,’’ CEO and Founder Mary Ellen Sheets said. “Our first meeting was so simple and small. It’s amazing to me how quickly we’ve grown. I am so pleased to know how many lives have been positively affected by our little idea. And we are all so excited to experience St. Louis.’’

This year’s meeting theme is “Leadership Challenge” -- a take on the hit NBC TV program, “The Apprentice.” Participants will attend sessions on topics that include marketing tips, technology training and employees. There will also be tours of the city offered, a company golf outing and a 55-exhibit marketplace with the company’s participating suppliers.

Sheets began franchising her moving company in the late 1980s. With an initial investment of only $350, she was able to expand the company internationally. And with the help of her children, Melanie Bergeron, COO and president, Brig Sorber, vice president of operations and director of licensing and Jon Sorber, vice president of franchise growth and opportunities, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® continues to grow and succeed.  
There are 172 locations in North America and nearly 1,200 TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® trucks on the road. The company will soon expand in Ireland and the United Kingdom and representatives from these countries will be in attendance. Each location is independently owned and operated. All locations complete home and business moves, packing and unpacking services as well as selling boxes and packing supplies.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® focuses on strong customer service. The system strives to exceed customer expectations every time. Each year, the franchise that is most successful in their customer service efforts is recognized at the Annual Meeting Awards Night. The company is also very focused on giving back and recognizes the franchise that donated the most time over the past year as the Humanitarian of the Year.  Both are coveted awards in the system.

Joel Trost, general manager for the St. Louis franchise, said the city is the perfect place for this year’s meeting.
