(Lansing, Mich.) –
Melanie Bergeron, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®/INTERNATIONAL, Inc. chair, was recently honored with the Bonny LeVine Award at the International Franchise Association’s 50th annual convention in San Antonio, Texas.
The award is presented to a female franchisor who has demonstrated ability in franchising through contribution to the growth of the business; contributions to her community and contributions as a mentor to women in franchising.
"TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® has allowed me wonderful opportunities,” Bergeron said. “It is an honor to be included with the remarkable franchise women that have received this award before me."
Bergeron was TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®’s first franchisee in 1989. Her mother, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®
Founder Mary Ellen Sheets, asked Bergeron to lead as president in 1994 when the company reached 39 franchises. Later Bergeron was named as head of the board of directors. Today the company has more than 200 locations and nearly 1,200 trucks on the road. It is the first and largest franchised moving company in the United States.
The Bonny LeVine Award was created in 1964 in memory of IFA member and Postal Instant Press co-founder Bonny LeVine, recognizing her outstanding accomplishments in franchising and serving as a role model for women in the franchising community.
The
International Franchise Association is the world’s largest and oldest organization representing franchising. It is the preeminent voice and acknowledged leader for the industry worldwide.
